THE NEED

In Arizona, women outpace men as enrollees at two and four year post-secondary institutions yet, across the country, only 21% of C-suite executives are women, according to the Women in the Workplace 2019 report by McKinsey & Company.

SHE Leads!™ is crafted to repair the “Broken Rung” in the career ladder that often impairs women from reaching higher levels of management and leadership. When women are able to overcome this hurdle together, they in turn use their experience to lead other women up the ladder and closer to equal representation.

the program

This 9-month program is ideal for a woman who:

  • Has a desire to move into a leadership position or move to the next level of management.

  • Is new to leadership and would benefit from a formal training experience.

  • Has been out of the workplace and wants to return to a leadership position.

Key program elements:

  • Training: Six formal in person training sessions focus on teaching personal, professional and organizational leadership capabilities, all of which are critically important to advancing in a leadership role.

  • A professional toolkit including a a personalized relationship strengths inventory for each participant.

  • Monthly one-on-one meetings with your Mentor.

  • Presentations from local nonprofits on their work benefitting women in the state, and the opportunity for the collective cohort to select organizations to receive grant awards.

Each cohort selects local women-serving nonprofit recipients to receive grant awards, which reinvests into women in Arizona. Our SHE Leads!™ Class of 2023 was able to grant out $43,000 of their fundraising dollars to these deserving organizations.

SHE Leads! participants will each have a program mentor who are women and men in leadership roles that are willing to share their experiences, challenges, and successes with mentee(s). Mentors represent the program as positive role models and to offer encouragement and healthy feedback for our mentees.
